Dezi grew up in Michigan and went to Michigan State University for her BS. She then attended Cornell University for graduate school and earned her PhD in plant biology focusing on plant-insect interactions. She then conducted postdoctoral work at the University of California, Riverside working on plant biotic and abiotic stress. In her free time, Dezi enjoys running and being outdoors.
